WORK EXPERIENCE:

2002 – Present: Program manager wastewater treatment STOWA.

The Foundation of Applied Water Research is the national research organisation for the Dutch regional water managers. Its mission is to develop, collect, distribute and implement applied knowledge, essential for an effective and efficient water management.

I manage the national research program on wastewater treatment. Major themes of the research programme are innovative wastewater treatment technologies, resource recovery, energy transition and the innovation program removal of micropollutants at WWTPs.

1997 – 2002: Manager of the department “Strategic Planning, Support and Advise, Wastewater Treatment” of the Water Authority “Hoogheemraadschap de Stichtse Rijnlanden” in Houten, The Netherlands, overseeing 17 wastewater treatment plants with a total capacity of 1 million population equivalents.

1991 – 1996: Senior process engineer at the Province of Utrecht, Department of Wastewater Treatment. Technological process engineering of construction works and optimisation projects, and project manager of the implementation of new information systems.

1989 – 1991: Wastewater engineer at the engineering consulting agency of Witteveen + Bos in Deventer. Several research programs, designs of wastewater treatment plants.

 

EDUCATION

1982 – 1988: Agricultural University Wageningen University (Msc Environmental Pollution Control; Wastewater treatment)
