Mark Wetzel

Superintendent of Public Works, Town of Ayer

Mark Wetzel is the Superintendent of Public Works for the Town of Ayer, Massachusetts, responsible for water, wastewater, stormwater, road maintenance, snow plowing, and solid waste. Prior to Ayer, Mark was a consulting engineer specializing in municipal water supply and treatment, working on projects throughout New England. 

Mark has a BSCE from the University of Vermont and is a registered Professional Engineer, Certified Professional in Storm Water Quality, Certified Drinking Water Operator, Certified Wastewater Treatment Operator and an active member of Massachusetts Water Works Association, New England Water Works Association and American Public Works Association. He has presented multiple papers on water supply and treatment, including, most recently, PFAS contamination in Ayer’s drinking water supplies and the implementation of treatment facilities.
