Digital Agility: Smart Water for Climate Resilience

Wednesday 8th September, 8:00 – 9:30 AM PDT

Climate change is increasingly straining water infrastructure in the US, with historic droughts amplifying water scarcity on the one hand and extreme storms causing urban flooding on the other. The desire to address these challenges is a key focus of the Biden administration, which has earmarked funding and advanced policies designed to improve climate resilience.

For the water industry, there is now a unique window of opportunity to implement advanced solutions that will improve the performance of water and wastewater infrastructure and provide long-lasting resilience. Digital technologies that can track, monitor and analyse water data in network infrastructure have proven to be a vital tool in maximising water supply and effectively managing stormwater volumes.

This online networking meeting will feature projects undertaken by utilities who are aiming to increase the efficiency and resilience of their water systems in the face of extreme weather events using digital technologies. Projects will include examples of:

  • Asset condition assessment and the monitoring of network infrastructure
  • Data-driven approaches for watershed management and modelling
  • Reducing non-revenue water and leakage
  • Stormwater and combined sewer overflow modelling, prediction and management
